Our Programs

At Taarifa Readers & Storytellers, we believe early literacy is a shared journey. Our  programs are designed to spark a lifelong love for reading in young children, while equipping the adults in their lives with the tools to guide them.

For Families

Taarifa Readers & Storytellers Family Foundations is a unique family-focused early literacy program that provides up-to-date literacy research while respectfully building on parents' knowledge and experiences.


What to expect during the 8-week program

  • Free family meals
  • Free books
  • A space for families to learn and grow with each other
  • Fun and innovative reading activities for children
  • Discussions on the latest early literacy research

For Childcare Sites

Taarifa Readers & Storytellers Child-Care Connections is a free service that will bring more literacy excitement to storytimes at your site and a beautiful book collection once a year.


What child care sites can expect:

  • Once a month Super Story-Time
  • Diverse and Cultural Awareness book titles
  • Resources
  • Once a year, book collection for the children at their site

Taarifa Readers & Storytellers Cultural Connections (TRSCC) is dedicated to dismantling stereotypes and prejudice through the power of connection. By bringing African American, Asian American, Latino, Somalian, and Native American communities together, we foster deep understanding and genuine appreciation for our diverse traditions.
